Hi. I'm not Dead.

I got a visit from Candy and her "ol' ball and chain" Jake last week. We ate at Laredo's with Sarah, hung out in my apartment and talked, and went to Michael's Frozen Custard. It was nice to catch up.

I didn't do anything for the 4th of July. I thought that I'd maybe be able to see the Madison fireworks from my balcony (since they go off at Elver Park and I face that direction), but unfortunately, the roof of the building next to me was a bit too high. So I could only hear them and see occasionally flashes of colored lights.

But I DID go to Rhythm and Booms the previous Saturday with Sarah (the biggest fireworks show in the midwest!). It was cool. There was the constant threat of it getting rained out, but the weather ended up cooperating ok. But it was a bit windy, so a lot of debris/ash drifted into the crowd during the show. I got a piece of something in my eye at one point and it hurt like a beotch for the rest of the night. I recorded it all with my camera. Maybe I'll post a few snippets at some point. ETA: thinking about this post makes me want to die (I've had it saved on my computer for over a week), so I doubt I'll put up video of the event. Unless someone REALLY wants to see a few clips. If you do, let me know and I'll see what I can do. Otherwise, I'll just assume there's no interest. Here are a few pics of the night: Sarah and a taco stand; me and an old couple; me giving the peace sign and Sarah telling you all to fuck off; Sarah and I as it started to rain a little:

I also went to Concert on the Square a few Wednesdays ago. That was nice. The conductor (or whatever) is from New Zealand. Kia ora! In case you're unaware of what this is, on Wednesdays during the summer, the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra plays a free concert outside the capital building (on the capital square). People veg out on the capital lawn and have picnic dinners and stuff. Since originally writing this, I also went to another one. It featured the trumpet. It was pretty good. Here are a few pics, including a not-very-flattering pic of me and Sarah:

I went to Laura's bachelorette party this weekend. Sarah and I stayed at Liz's apartment. We all (me, Sarah, Liz, Laura, Michael, and Danielle) went out to eat at Outback on Friday night. There was a biggish storm woth loads of crazy-ass lightning. On Saturday, we did some shopping. That night we went to an arcade place and went bowling. We got 3 games in in an hour and a half (me, Liz, and Sarah). I improved each game. 100, 101, 106. Hehe. The funny thing is, I did the best on my last game when we were playing speed bowling. We only had 18 minutes to play the entire last game, so I was pretty much running to the ball thing, and hurriedly hurling the ball down the lane. I guess I should always bowl in haste.

The bachelorette party was on Sunday at a spa where we all got manicures and pedicures. It was my first time getting both. It was nice to see Laura, since I hadn't seen her in a while (well, aside from Friday night). I get to see her again next weekend when Sarah and I host her wedding shower!

That's about it.

Joleen, do they have Outbacks in Australia?

I'm assuming that Liz means the one of me and only me in the sweatshirt, dear.
